In our continuing effort to paint the rooms in our new house, Meaghan and I spent some time turning my office an awesome royal blue. When we bought the house every single wall was painted in a strange off-lilac color I have nicknamed “Zombie Flesh”. It’s an uninspiring shade that drains the excitement from any space in which it is present. Hence our quest to apply some color!
Here are some of the before shots:
Ugly as hell Dulcet tones of zombie flesh everywhere!
More zombie flesh! (The balcony was a pain to tape)
The taping was probably half of the job. There are a lot of oddly shaped surfaces to go around. Some of them (such as above the cabinets) weren’t in easy to reach places. Here are some shots of the work in progress:
Meaghan painting in the nook. That little awkward space took longer than two walls!
We have already painted a few other rooms in the house but this was by far the most complex both in terms of shape and the amount of built-in items that we had to paint around. While all of the other rooms had taken a little over a day to complete, this took more than double that. By the time the final strokes were applied we were both pretty tired, but the results are totally worth it. Here are some pictures of the finished product:
My office is blue! I’m looking to get some red furniture for the corner next to the fireplace in the picture above. We painted the switch and outlet covers a bright red to hint at the accent color that is planned. Now to save up the money for a trip to IKEA.
